The DMDK has begun pre-poll talks with the BJP which has offered 113 seats to the party to be a part of the NDA for the assembly election in Tamil Nadu.
The other potential partner, PMK, has been offered 70 seats, while the BJP would take 51 for itself and apportion from its share a few seats to some fringe groups that have remained loyal to the saffron party since the Lok Sab bha election. The NDA is keen to provide an alternative to the Dravidian-style rule that has dominated TN politics.
