In the turmoil-hit Punjab, the festival of lights, Diwali, will be dimmed this year. After protests over the alleged desecration of the holy book 'Guru Granth Sahib', sikhs have taken a tough stand.
The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee has maintained its decision that the Golden Temple will neither be adorned with fancy lights nor would it witness any fireworks this Diwali.
The controversial sarbat khalsa will also take place in Amritsar today even as Akali Dal has asked Sikhs to stay away from the event. Security has been stepped in the wake of this at Golden temple.
