Supreme Court's recommendation to review the Muslim Laws and pave way for a uniform civil code across the nation. It has decided to examine Islamic personal law to consider doing away with provisions biased against Muslim women. SC will constitute an appropriate bench and address the issue to bring about gender equality in Muslim personal law. But the Muslim Law Board has vehemently opposed the recommendation saying they will not allow any tinkering of the Muslim laws and won't let our fundamental right to practice our religion.
