India needs urgent Judicial Reforms, says PM Narendra Modi

The debate over self assessment of the judiciary in India rages on. Top jurists have voiced their unanimous support for the Prime Minister's reform bugle - believing that it's high time for urgent judicial reforms in the country. Advising the judiciary to avoid "perception-driven" verdicts, the PM had said it should have an internal mechanism of "self-assessment" as judges are considered "divine" and seldom face any criticism unlike the political class. Modi had added that while the judiciary is getting powerful, it is necessary that it also becomes "perfect" to live up to the expectations of the people.
