पीए-2 सरकार के कार्यकाल के दौरान 2012 में सैन्य तख्तापलट की खबरों को लेकर बीजेपी ने द संडे गार्जियन अखबार की एक रिपोर्ट के हवाले से कांग्रेस पर हमला बोला है. ये रिपोर्ट 3 फरवरी 2019 को ITV नेटवर्क के अखबार द संडे गार्जियन ने छापी थी. जिसका हवाला देकर बीजेपी ने कहा कि सेना के खिलाफ तख्तापलट की गलत खबर छपवाकर यूपीए 2 के शासन में सेना को बदनाम किया गया. दिल्ली में बीजेपी ने प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस कर कहा कि मनमोहन सरकार के चार मंत्री इस साजिश में शामिल थे. बीजेपी ने इस मामले में कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी से जवाब मांगा है, साथ ही संसदीय कमिटी से इस पूरे मामले की जांच की मांग की है.
