After dragging West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s name into the multi-crore Saradha scam, suspended Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh threw up heavyweight party functionary Partha Chatterjee’s name among the influential in court.
With the end of his CBI remand, he was produced before metropolitan magistrate Arabinda Mitra at Bankshal court. During the hearing, Mr Ghosh told the judge that he would not take any lawyer’s help and appeal for his bail on his own.
On the judge’s instruction, he gave it in writing which was granted. Mr Ghosh then described himself to not to be an “influential,” as claimed by the CBI, and said that he could not influence the probe since he has been lodged in jail for the last 11 months.
He rejected the claim of another arrested accused, Rajat Majumdar, in the court on Thursday that Saradha owner Sudipta Sen had told him he used to send money through Mr Majumdar to Trinamul general secretary Mukul Roy.
