Jnanpith awardee and renowned Kannada writer UR Ananthamurthy, who was undergoing treatment on multi-support system, died in Bangalore on Friday.
He was 81 years old.
Ananthamurthy was put on a ventilator early on Friday after he had trouble breathing and his BP suddenly plummeted. He said that the author was admitted after multiple complications about 10 days ago.
Ananthamurthy's works were translated into several Indian and European languages and were awarded with important literary prizes.
His main works included Samskara, Bhava, Bharathi Pura and Avasthe.
