Close to 84 Indians remain in the conflict zone in Iraq. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that 17 Indians are now safely out of the country.
In addition, two nurses in the conflict zone have also been evacuated to Karbala. The 39 Indians in captivity in Mosul and the 46 nurses in Tikrit are said to be safe.
The government has summoned all envoys to Gulf countries for a meeting on June 29 except for the Ambassador to Iraq. MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said "the External Affairs Minister (Sushma Swaraj) is monitoring the situation herself and she has now summoned all Indian Ambassodors in the Gulf to come to Delhi."
