Congress president Sonia Gandhi today questioned the perception that only fringe elements of the Sangh parivar were creating communal disturbances, arguing that the "true colours and intentions of the Prime Minister" and the BJP were getting exposed.

Addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting this morning, Sonia said Narendra Modi's real agenda rested on divisive politics and wondered if the "anti-people decisions" pushed through recent ordinances signalled an ulterior motive.

With such a direct attack on the Prime Minister, Sonia indicated that it was she, and not Rahul, who could lead the fight-back.
