Information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari on Saturday denied allegations that government was interfering in the function of state-run television channel Doordarshan.

"Government does not interfere in the functioning of Doordarshan," Tewari said while addressing reporters.

Tewari also added that autonomy to Prasar Bharati was guaranteed by Parliament.

A heated political fight had broke out over Doordarshan's selective telecast of an interview with BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as BJP accused the government of censorship.
