A day after a 23-year-old software engineer with Tata Consultancy Services was found murdered near her office in Siruseri, the city police on Sunday suspended an inspector of the Kelambakkam police for failing to probe a complaint lodged by the woman's father nine days before her body was discovered.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa ordered that the case be transferred to the CB-CID and police offered a reward of up to Rs 2 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
