The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi was on confrontation course with the Centre after the latter made it clear on Wednesday night that the Lokayukta bill the Delhi government proposed to introduce in the assembly would need its concurrence. The Delhi government looked determined to go ahead with the legislation despite the Law Ministry's view, setting the stage for a constitutional crisis.
The AAP government is also adamant that the Delhi Assembly session to discuss the Janlokpal bill be held in an open stadium, and Delhi Police provide security arrangements for the same. The Cabinet, which met on Wednesday, took up the issue of holding a special session of the assembly following Delhi Lieutenant-Governor's reply to the Chief Minister's letter.
