In a decision that is likely to add to the power woes of the national capital, NTPC BSE -1.33 % on Friday rejected Delhi Government's plea not to stop power supply to BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) for defaulting on payments.

NTPC has warned of snapping power supply to BYPL if payment is not made on Friday. Reliance Infra-backed power distribution company BYPL had informed Delhi Government that areas in Central and East Delhi may face eight to 10 hours of power cuts from Saturday as the company was facing serious fund crunch to buy electricity.
