The incident was triggered by a traffic accident in the city-state's Little India district, in which an Indian national was killed. 400 South Asian workers went on a rampage that left 39 persons including police officers injured and 25 vehicles damaged or burnt last Sunday.

Singapore police have questioned nearly 4,000 foreign workers in a widening crackdown following the riot.
