In a major relief to Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav, the Supreme Court today granted him bail in connection with the fodder scam case.
The apex court granted him bail on principle of parity as 37 other convicts are already out on the bail. However, the apex court left it to the trial court to decide the bail bonds, sureties and other conditions to be imposed on the former MP. Lalu had moved the apex court challenging the order of the Jharkhand high court which had dismissed his bail plea. The CBI which is the prosecuting agency in the case did not oppose Lalu's bail plea. Remember, Lalu still remains disqualified from contesting elections.
