Following the alliance between Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress for the forthcoming assembly elections in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday addressed a joint press conference in Lucknow.

Speaking on the alliance between SP and Congress, Rahul Gandhi said, "It's a historical alliance, partnership between me and Akhilesh, to defeat fascist forces."
