It seems the hushed UPA ordinance on convicted legislators is yet to cross roadblocks as BJP leaders are set to meet President Pranab Mukherjee today to voice their objection. BJP leaders will also urge the President to give assent to the 'unconstitutional' measure.


Remember, the government cleared the Ordinance on Tuesday to undo a two-month-old Supreme Court verdict -- under which MPs and MLAs face immediate disqualification on their conviction in a criminal case with a jail term of two years. This came after the government failed to get a Bill to this effect passed in Parliament during the recent Monsoon Session.
