The HRD ministry on Wednesday sacked psephologist from the University Grants Commission for joining the Aam Admi Party. This as the government feels Yadav's association with UGC may mean future politicization of the apex body of higher education and its academic decision making.

Yogendra Yadav was served a show cause notice on September 4 by the HRD Ministry citing conflict of interest.
