The politics over the Muzaffarnagar communal violence continues unabated. Political leaders of different hues, predictably laid the blame on others and no one was ready to take on responsibility.

Maintaining law & order comes under the state govt. Akhilesh's govt which was proactive in its approach to ban the VHP's Kosi Yatra, citing it had communal undertones, can't be excused for being reactive to the current communal boil in the state. His govt's hypocrisy is highlighted by its inaction, despite IB reports warning of communal disturbance. UP govt clearly ignored the growing tension in the region. Critically, SP govt has failed to stop the rising communal tensions in the state in the past 18 months.
