Decoration at temples is not the only thing that is exceptional on Janmashtami. From a wardrobe that can become a talk-of-the-town to those who are talk-of-the-town churning out devotional songs both happened this time around in Lord Krishna's service.
At the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), the work on the peacock themed dress started four months ago with 10 artisans working on it. "This year we had night and day dress. These were of the peacock feather theme with embellishments of metal beads," said Samira Shah, practising devotee, and a trainer of fashion and jewellery design who looked after Krishna and others wardrobes at the ISKCON temple in Girgaum Chowpatty.
