The Bahujan Samaj Party has rejected the possibility of a grand alliance with SP in Uttar Pradesh to defeat BJP. Upon being asked whether such an alliance is possible, party leader Swamy Prasad Maurya said his party will end jungle raj in UP by defeating SP. “Samajwadi party is working as ‘gundaraj’ whereas BJP as ‘dangaraj’. People are missing BSP as they saw good governance that time. Public felt peace and harmony, there was no single riot. We will finish the ‘jungleraj’ and come up as an strong alternative,” he said. He was responding to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s comment that such a tie-up was possible in the state to defeat BJP where Assembly elections are due in early 2017.
