Domestic violence case: BJP protests outside Somnath Bharti's house, demands resignation

The women's wing of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday held protests against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti, who is facing allegations of domestic violence levelled against him by his wife Lipika Mitra. According to reports, the members of ''BJP Mahila Morcha'' protested and staged demonstrations outside Bharti's residence and pressed for his immediate arrest. Meanwhile, a section of BJP Mahila Morcha also protested outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. The agitating members surrounded and blocked Somnath Bharti's car, and showed him black flags as he reached there. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has also assured that appropriate action will be taken in the case. "These kinds of matters are kept confidential. Her problems are being heard and proper action would be taken," Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told media.
