Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to launch the national programme of “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” (Save girl child-Educate girl child) campaign in Panipat, Haryana. In Haryana, the sex ratio in districts ranges between 875 and 837 which means the female foeticide rate is high: Maneka. Ahead of the launch, Union Minister for Rural Development Birender Singh flagged off the yatra on Sunday from the premises of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hooda University in Jind.Despite early morning rain large number of people turn up for launch of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme by PM Modi at Panipat.

What is Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao scheme?

Prime Minister Modi described it as "a key scheme that aims to address the dipping child sex ratio and empower girl child in the country."
