In a clear threat to India, the Italian Government has invoked international conventions to protest against the restraints imposed on its Ambassador here. Italy says even the limitation on his right of leaving Indian Territory will be contrary to India's obligations under the Vienna convention. Asking India to ensure full compliance, Italy has reminded that no authority can impose restrictive measures on the personal freedom of its Ambassador. Attorney General submitted this note to the Supreme Court on Monday.
