A 10-year-old boy died and his grandmother was injured when they were hit by a car driven by a drunk constable in Mandawali area of East Delhi on Sunday, police said.
The incident occurred when Delhi Police constable Ashok along with two other men went to a fish market in Mandawali area around 5.30 p.m.
Ashok, under the influence of alcohol, was reversing his car when 10-year-old Gopal and his grandmother were hit.
Both were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared the boy dead. His injured grandmother is recuperating.
Police said Ashok was off duty during the incident and was arrested.
