President rejects mercy pleas of Veerappan aides

The mercy petition of four associates of sandalwood smuggler Veerapan rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee. The accused were sentenced to death by the Supreme Court in january 2004 in connection with the landmine blast. Their mercy pleas have been pending since 2004.
