An event manager was murdered and his friend grievously injured after being shot at by two of their friends at a party on Thursday in Manish Nagar in Andheri (W). Dhairashil Desai, who sources said lived alone in an apartment nearby, was hosting a party at his residence for three of his friends.

Around 7.30 pm, two of his friends entered into an argument with the others which ended in them attacking Desai and his friend Sandip Kava with a countrymade gun and a chopper. Kava was rushed to Cooper Hospital immediately, said officers from DN Nagar police station, who are investigating the matter.

"The deceased succumbed to his injuries on the spot while his friend has been rushed to hospital. We are yet to ascertain what exactly happened at the deceased apartment. We are in the process of tracking down the accused," said DCP Satyanarayan Chaudhary.
