The designated fast track court is to begin hearing the December 16 Delhi Gangrape case today. A fast track court had fixed the case for start of day-to-day trial on January 24 when it would hear arguments on framing of charges. This comes a day after the Supreme Court deferred a hearing over a plea for transferring the case trial to a court outside Delhi. An SC bench headed by chief justice Altamas Kabir adjourned the hearing after two lawyers appeared and claimed to represent Mukesh, one of the six accused in the case. The Supreme Court bench asked the session's judge to find out who the accused's actual counsel was by speaking to the accused. The SC posted the matter for hearing on January 30.
