It's all eyes on the Safdarjang Hospital in New Delhi, where the 23-year old victim of the Sunday night's brutal gang rape fights for her life. Latest reports from the hospital say she continues to be critical as infection sets in. Doctors attending on her said the 23-year old has suffered permanent damage to vital organs. She is heavily dependent on ventilator support after infection set in. Doctors say that large portion of her intestines had to be removed and that they have to operate on her, if medicines fail to control infection. The next 48-hours is said to be highly crucial. Meanwhile, Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi visited the hospital last night and later demanded the strictest possible measures to ensure no repeat of the barbaric incident that has evoked outcry from the women across the country. Sonia wrote a strong letter to the Home Minister on the matter. The Uttarakhand CM has offered financial assistance of 5 lakh rupees for her treatment.
