Oil Minister Veerappa Moily has clarified that that his remarks on increasing the LPG cylinder cap were made as a reply to media queries on the issue. He denied that it was a policy decision or even an announcement. A full bench meeting of the Election Committee will take a view on this. Yesterday, taking strong exception to Moily's comment, the EC demanded an explanation as to why he made it ahead of the Gujarat elections.
