A Delhi court has remanded Zee Group Editor Sudhir Chaudhary and the Head of Zee Business Samir Ahluwalia to 2 days police custody.Their pleas for bail have been turned down..While passing the order for police remand, the court also observed that the police charge of cheating and dishonesty under Section 420 IPC, prima facie appeared untenable. Meanwhile, Zee News has vehemently denied all allegations of extortion levelled against its senior editors arrested by the Delhi Police crime branch last night. The Zee group has described the arrests as a "crude and direct attack on the freedom of the press". Zee group has said it condemns the arrest of its two editors and strongly condemns the malicious, illegal and motivated persecution initiated by Delhi police.
