Certain religious extremists are enforcing a Taliban-like diktat in Madhubani's Bhauhara Chowk locality. Men who do not sport the traditional Islamic beard and women who refuse to don the burqa are punished publically. Also, people who indulge in alocohol consumption are publically flogged after being stripped and tonsured in the village square. All this happening in Nitish Kumar's Bihar state which is attempting to match the progress made by other states.
