Support is mounting across Rajasthan for the cause of 9-year old Piya Chaudhary, the schoolgirl who died due to cancer arising out of injuries inflicted on her head by her class teacher. Protests are growing for action against the teacher who was granted bail soon after the incident, the school where Piya was studying has also not taken any action to ensure Piya gets justice. Piya's parents are contemplating filing a fresh FIR against the teacher, as well as the school that belongs to a local BJP leader. Piya died on the 16th of this month, 2 years after she was beaten in class leading to loss of sight in her left eye. Her death has triggered a fresh debate on corporal punishment in schools in India.
