Amid news of impending price hikes all around, here's a breather. The government has decided to put on hold the 26 rupees 50 paise hike in cooking gas cylinders that consumers buy beyond their quota of six subsidised cylinders. The withdrawal was announced late last night, after hours of stiff opposition from all quarters. The govt had said it was revising prices of non-subsidised cylinders in keeping with firming international rates.
