Sources told NewsX that one likely reason for SM Krishna's resignation could be because of a stand-off he had with the PM over his officer on special duty, named Raghuvendra Shastri. Shastry is a Secretary-level officer who is considered close to SM Krishna ever since he was active in Karnataka politics. Sources say, the Prime Minister took exception to Shastri's activities and warned Krishna, but he wasn't taken seriously. Now, when the PM has been given more freedom in the govt, he acted.
