NewsX@9 is a NewsX special show which debates the main news event of the day. The political pot - or plot - continues to boil in Maharashtra. The Congress's chief minister, Prithviraj Chavan, has still not accepted the resignation of the NCP's deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar. On the other hand, NCP boss Sharad Pawar is saying that Ajit's resignation, and the problems in the NCP-Congress alliance, will not affect the stability of the coalition government in Maharashtra or at the Centre. Ajit Pawar had submitted his resignation as Deputy Chief Minister on Tuesday. He said he was doing this, since he's been accused in the 20,000 crore irrigation scam, relating to when he was water resources minister in Maharashtra in 2009. He claimed that he's open to a CBI probe as well. Ajit Pawar and the NCP believe that Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is gunning for them. Certainly, Chavan had said two months ago that crores had been spent on irrigation projects, but there was little to show for it. The CM has also ordered a White Paper on the issue. This has been seen as an attempt to corner Ajit Pawar. We debate today- What's the true story behind Ajit Pawar's resignation in Maharashtra? We debate the question on the show and try to evolve a consensus among our panelists over the issue. Watch out.
