Sonia Gandhi will visit Kokrajhar and Dhubri today. Both districts are among the worst hit by the recent communal violence in Assam. The tour is intended to convey a heightened concern in the party over the Bodo-Muslim conflict in the state. Sonia will tour the epicentre of the violence. Sonia's visit comes in the wake of mounting criticism that the Tarun Gogoi government was lax in controlling the violence. The party is facing pressure not only from rivals but even the UPA partners. Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde's weak reply to the debate in Parliament also didn't help matters last week.
