The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the life imprisonment awarded to former MP from Bihar Anand Mohan Singh in Gopalganj district magistrate murder case. Singh was awarded death sentence by a trial court and his wife Lovely Anand was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Patna high court however, converted his death sentence into life imprisonment and acquitted his wife. Taking serious note of the increasing criminalisation of politics in the country, a bench headed by Justice AK Patnaik dismissed the appeal of the former MP.
