Azam addressing a rally in Sambhal where he appealed to the people to defeat the fascist forces and press the button to take revenge on the "murderers of Muzaffarnagar". He also alleged that women and children were tortured to death in the Gujarat riots in 2002.
The call for revenge came days after BJP's UP pointsperson and Narendra Modi aide Amit Shah's statement exhorting the voters in Muzafffarnagar to avenge the humiliation by pressing the button. The EC had hauled him up and issued a notice seeking his clarification.
