Renowned journalist MJ Akbar joins BJP

In more shake up as India nears the Lok Sabha elections, author and journalist MJ Akbar joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to BJP sources, the noted journalist will be appointed as the party's spokesperson. He is among several new entrants in the party.
Akbar, who was associated with the Congress when Rajiv Gandhi was Prime Minister, will be among the party's panelists for television.
MJ Akbar is a senior journalist and has headed the leading weekly India Today, launched The Sunday Guardian newspaper and the founder and former editor-in-chief and managing director of The Asian Age newspaper.

As part of its diversification process, The Sunday Guardian is now a part of Information TV Group managed by Kartikeya Sharma, Managing Director Information TV Group, which also runs India News and NewsX channels.
