A day after the deadline set by the Naxals for the release of the Sukma Collector ended talks are still on between the Maoists and the Chhattisgarh government's two negotiators, BD Sharma and G Hargopal. A fourth round of negotiations is currently on at Taalmetra near the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. It's been a week since the Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon was abducted by Naxals. Despite three rounds of talks in the past two days, the Naxals have refused to extend the deadline and are instead demanding the release of nine more of their comrades from jail. Asha Menon, the wife of the abducted collector is leading hundreds of local tribals and prominent citizens in a peace march or a candle light march to demand for an early release of Alex Paul Menon. Asha Menon says her husband had a vision for Sukma and it's unfortunate that this abduction took place. SK Vaid, the Sukma SDM is also participating in the march.
