In what seems like an election exercise in earnest in Karnataka, Congress President Sonia Gandhi participated in the 105th birthday celebration of the Lingayat Seer Sri Sivakumara Swamigal Sonia's move is dubbed as an attempt to reach out to the Lingayat vote base, which has all along been the stronghold of former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. Earlier, arriving by chopper from Bangalore, Sonia Gandhi visited the century old Nagasamudra Lake, which is lying dry for the past two years. She also met the farmers and weavers in the area.
