The strike by close to 6,500 in-service doctors and resident doctors is now into its third day. Nine doctors have been suspended by the Rajasthan govt. 11 patients were reportedly dead for want of treatment at these hospitals with one of them a pregnant woman whose relatives have demanded strong action. Rajasthan police have so far arrested 123 in-service doctors and resident doctors for violating the Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA). The bone of contention is mainly over time-bound promotion and pay parity with the Centre.
