Chandni Chowk an Inferno, 22 Engines Needed

The fire broke at a godown storing electrical appliances on the second floor of the four-storey building in Chandani Chowk and soon spread to shops and godowns on the same floor and the upper floor. Twenty-two fire tenders were rushed to the spot following a call to the Delhi Fire Service Department in the evening and the flames sparked in about two hours. A major fire broke out in the electrical and electronics market in central Delhi's Chandni Chowk this evening. The blaze erupted at the Bhagirathi Palace market, which sells electrical and electronics items, at around 5:10pm and over 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A short circuit is suspected to be responsible for the fire. No casualties were reported in the fire.
