Walmart has been lobbying for entry into the Indian market since 2008 and has spent $25 million or 125 crore rupees in the process. The lobbying was for what it calls 'enhanced market access for investment in India'. The company was lobbying with the US Senate, US House of Representatives, US Trade Representative and the US State Department. so far this year, the company has already spent $3 million or Rs 18 crore on lobbying activities related to India.
