The principal investigator into the Emiliano Sala plane crash in January has said that "licencing itself, and the privileges of those licences, will be something that we will look into in our investigation". Geraint Herbert of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said that pilot Dave Ibbotson was licenced to carry passengers. However, an interim report by the AAIB said that the type of licence held by Mr Ibbotson meant he could only fly passengers in the European Union on a cost sharing basis, rather than for commercial flights.
