Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Rs 75,000-crore Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The government's ambitious direct-cash transfer scheme for small and marginal farmers witnessed the first instalment of Rs. 2,000 each transferred to over one crore farmers and another one crore farmers will be covered in the next 2-3 days. The centre had announced the scheme in its interim budget 2019-2020 under which rs.6000 is to be given to 12 crore farmers holding cultivable land up to two hectares.
