'World silence towards modern-day Karbala in Yemen must end!': Hezbollah Leader - English subs

Views 1

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah called on all Arabs, Muslims, and 'free' people of the world to break their silence toward the daily 'US-Saudi massacre' of the Yemeni people, characterising Yemen as the modern-day Karbala.

As the Saudi-led war on Yemen continues, the United Nations has said that some 22.2 million Yemenis are in dire need of food, including 8.4 million threatened by severe hunger.

Several Western countries, the US and Britain in particular, are also accused of being complicit in the ongoing aggression as they supply the Riyadh regime with advanced weapons and military equipment as well as logistical and intelligence assistance.

Regarding Nasrallah's reference to 'Karbala':

Imam Husayn, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and some 72 of his companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting courageously for justice and reformation against the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I, which some historians estimate to have been 100,000-strong.

Imam Husayn's stand in Karbala symbolises for Shia Muslims the eternal and unwavering stance of truth against falsehood and humanity’s struggle against injustice, tyranny and oppression.
