The Dallas Mavericks (26-29) played host to the Portland Trail Blazers (33-22) on a Sunday matinee matchup. The last meeting between the two ended in extra minutes and almost ended in a similar fashion.
Mavs’ newest addition, Tim Hardaway, came in clutch at the free throw line to make it a one-point game at 97-96. After that, it was a ping pong match of who can get and secure the lead with time dwindling down.
Tied at 99-99, Doncic made a two-point shot and was sent to the free throw line soon after. Now trailing, Portland’s CJ McCollum tried to keep the Trail Blazers in the game with a jumper making it yet another one-point game.
With time running out, a late push by Lillard to the basket was denied and the Mavs walked away victorious 102-101.
The Mavs have a quick turnaround as they head to Houston to take on James Harden and the Rockets tomorrow at 7:00pm.
