Tight end Tony Gonzalez, safety Ed Reed and cornerback Champ Bailey were selected in their first year of eligibility. Center Kevin Mawae and cornerback Ty Law were the other modern-era inductees. Senior finalist Johnny Robinson, Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and former Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt were also selected. Gonzalez has the most catches and receiving yards among tight ends
in NFL history. Reed was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and five-time all pro during his career with the Baltimore Ravens. Bailey was selected to 12 Pro Bowls and had 52 career interceptions. The 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 3.
